If you are one who wants to synchronize your files with your other computers (Work, laptop, netbook, desktop, phone, mac, etc.). Then boy are you in trouble. Just like most things, (Browsers, word processors, email clients, etc.) you are going to have to make a choice.
There are two great file synchronizing programs I will be talking about, which are: Dropbox and Microsoft Live Mesh. ![]()

Let’s go over some of the key features and contrasts.
Interface
Dropbox:
Drop box’s interface is slick and easy to use. Navigating through folders is a snap, and shows file information side-by-side including: Folder/File name, Folder/File size, and when the Folder/File was last modified. Which is a little bit familiar to a Folder set to “Details” mode.

Dropbox also has a small learning curve. Within minutes of using it I got how it worked and was highly enjoying it.
Live Mesh:
Live Mesh’s device tab lists all the devices connected to the Mesh in a clean, sleek interface. On the top in the toolbar you get a search feature for all those files you have online. A Live Desktop Tab tab, Devices Tab, and a News Tab.
Live Mesh makes browsing files extremely easy, because they mimicked the way a regular Windows Desktop Works. With buttons such as minimize, maximize and close are fully functional, even the taskbar can be used to re-maximize minimized folders.
To even more prove the point, Live mesh allows you to Right Click and add folders, or upload files.
Back Buttons and Refresh Buttons have also been added to give you the feel that you are actually offline. (But frankly for me Live Desktop looks way better than my actual Desktop)

My friend and I were recently discussing about how involved with technology our daily lives have become. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don’t mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside… I just hope that as memory gets cheaper, the possibility of downloading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It’s one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
