Yesterday’s tutorial was on CCleaner, another computer cleaner. And no matter how good it was, it can’t get everything. But neither can CleanUp!, which is why I suggest using both together, for maximum cleaning.
DO NOT TRY WITHOUT MAKING A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT!
Steps: Download & Install
*You can skip to Step 5, after clicking This Link
- Go to the CleanUp! website (Pictured Below)
- Click the Download Tab (Pictured Below)
- Click Cleanup! 4.5.2 as a sub link in Downloads (Pictured Below)
- Finally Click CleanUp452.exe to download the software
- Run the software from where you downloaded it to. Usually the Desktop (Pictured Below)
-
- Run the installer and click the following buttons:
- Read the Terms & Conditions, then Next > Select an installation location (Pictured Below) then, Start > Uncheck/Check any and then Ok.
- Read the Terms & Conditions, then Next > Select an installation location (Pictured Below) then, Start > Uncheck/Check any and then Ok.
Steps: Using CleanUp!
- Run the Demo Mode of the program from the Start menu. (Pictured Below)
Also this folder comes up after finalizing the installation
- Demo Mode is when you can see what files would be deleted, and how much space would be saved, if in fact you actually run the software.
- Look at the interface (I only show this just so you can see it. Not actually a step.)
- Click the “Options…” Button, and move the slider up or down for automated marks, or check the boxes your self. (Pictured Below)
(hehe, you can see part of another post in the pic.)
- Click the Custom Files Tab to add folders/files that you would like cleaned. Just click the “Add” button then navigate to your directory.
- Click the Custom Registry Entries Tab to clean registry.
This option is NOT recommended, as it can cause serious damage to the computer. and it does not improve performance much anyway. - "A few hundred kilobytes of unused keys and values causes no noticeable performance impact on system operation. Even if the registry was massively bloated there would be little impact on the performance of anything other than exhaustive searches." -http://home.comcast.net/~supportcd/XPMyths.html
- Click the Cookies Tab to protect from being cleaned when CleanUp! is run. Just type in the text that the cookie contains into the box.
- If you don’t know what a cookie is, then don’t check the “Delete Cookies” box in the the General tab.
- Click the Temporary Files Tab to search your entire hard drive looking for temorary files that are supposedly not used anymore.
Double check if the files to be deleted are fine, if unsure don’t use this option. - Close the options when you are done, then click CleanUp!
Be sure you are in Demo mode first before doing it! - Review the files to be deleted, then if happy with results go into the start menu and run the regular version.
- Happy Hunting!
